It was Sept 11, 2011 at about 9.30pm when my 2 daughters Balqis were complaining of having difficulties in breathing and vomiting and Aisya were having headache for the past 3 days. Worrying about their health, I’ve decided to take them to the nearest hospital at Sungai Buloh.
At about 10.15pm we were at the Sungai Buloh Hospital. Upon registration my daughters was instructed to go to Room 1 for health screening. Initial examination was conducted by a Hospital Attendant and I was later instructed to register both my daughters for further examination by a residence doctor. After paying RM2.00 for both we were given queue numbers bearing 4077 for Balqis and 4078 for Aisyah.
At that moment they were serving number 4060 and the recorded time was 10.30pm.
We waited from 10.30 pm until 4.10 am before our numbers was called and attended Room 8. We’ve waited almost 6 hours just to be examined by a medical practitioner. It was really a long wait. Pity my daughters who later only given PARACETAMOL to ease their pain, no sputum or waste or blood or anything taken for further examination’. I did request for MC to be issued to both of daughters but was told that it is not the department’s policy to give MC. My plea was useless even though after lengthy explanation and that my daughters are not ready to attend school at 7.00 am (less than 2 hours of sleeping time)
It’s not about policies that matter but as well educated medical practitioner I would appreciate if they could use their discretion. It was very unfortunate for my both daughters as they are still not in good shape till to date.
Talking about TENSION!!! Who need to be one? Public or Patient or the hospital staff or now the ministry? Please answer this....
Is it because we only paid RM1.00 for medical service? May be there is truth in the saying.. “If we only give nut, we can only get monkeys”.
I am not surprise if our loves one would die of waiting for treatment instead of dying of the sickness they are suffering due to the attitude of their serving personnel and Ministry of Health got to do something.
In my personal opinion; the modern hospital building, the latest facilities and proper medication available through public funds does not commensurate the performance showed by their personnel. It is a big waste. The old building serves better.
Moral is the issue…. “No tax payer’s heaven”
